Membership Update from the Register - January 2010

RegistrarAt least once a year I write an article updating how the NAMGAR family is growing. Each year I have not been disappointed. That family is all those new members, and those that choose to stay with this great association of MGA loyalists. It is the ever growing evolution of NAMGAR. Some members choose not to renew their memberships for various reasons, but the “core” is a very loyal group the Board and I all thank you.

Last year NAMGAR added 109 new members. The MGA car database now has 7,789 cars listed, with 3,472 MGAs, 206 Magnettes, and 16 Variants belonging to current members. The remaining cars once belonged to members, or were entered in the database as parts cars, and once there they never leave my database.

Is your information current? I know I ask that quite often, but I work hard to keep your information as correct and current as I can, so I ask you often. All that is needed is to create your online member profile on the new NAMGAR website, by using your last name and membership number, then log into your online records and check to see what NAMGAR has on record for you. Your membership number can be found on the label of your copy of MGA! directly above your name, followed by the expiration date of your membership. I encourage you to review your information online occasionally to ensure I am keeping your records up-to date. I am sending out renewal notices via email, so now more than ever it is significant that I have a current email address on record for you. When I receive new information, I update your records as quickly as I can. I then go the NAMGAR website and update the records, so you can verify the information. Please allow a few days after you submit your changes for me to get them back on the web for your review.

I am also starting to collect some additional information to help assist our Chapter Contacts, Lee and Liz Niner, in their planning, and future GT hosts. Soon you will see on your renewal form a line called “Local British Car Club.” If you would just fill in that name, the information will be stored in my database. In my case I would enter the “Columbia Gorge MGA” into that line, since that is the local club I belong to. If you have renewed for a couple of years ahead, or are not due until later in 2010, now is a great time to go online and check out all the information that I have under your name. I wish to thank you in advance for your help.

This year’s GT is in Wisconsin with the Magnette as the featured car. It will be a packed field with Magnettes of all varieties, so plan to attend. I’m not sure when this many of those wonderful “four door MGs” will ever get together like this again soon. Hope you all plan to attend with me. Safe and happy motoring.

Help me here update the records please. Do I have the correct color of your car? Do I have the correct model of your car? If not, please update your records at Review/Update your Membership Records after you have created your online member profile.
